Former Markham fire chief publishes first novel

June 27, 2023, New York City, N.Y – Former Markham, Ont. fire chief Donald McClean has published his first book.

In his debut novel Where there’s Smoke, a group of FDNY firefighters plan a heist to bring karmic payback to a New York City slumlord. Firefighter Pete Carson decides to step outside the familiar role of hero for a chance to get payback against a man he holds responsible for several fire deaths in Manhattan.

Donald McClean grew up in Canada where he served as a firefighter for many years. He spent six years as the fire chief in Markham. He currently lives in Manhattan with his family.
