Sept. 20, 2023, Ajax, Ont. – Ajax Fire and Emergency Services are raising awareness about fire safety with the Get Real Ajax campaign.

The campaign runs from Sept. 25 to Oct. 30 and focuses on educating residents about fire safety and fire-related problems in their communities.

“The Get Real Ajax campaign is an excellent opportunity for our firefighters to interact with our residents and answer any questions that they have regarding fire safety and prevention,” said Fire Prevention Inspector Shelley Langer.

During the campaign, selected households will receive a Get Real Ajax information card in the mail and a door-to-door visit from Ajax firefighters to discuss the reality of fires in the community.

Firefighters are expected to visit 1,000 homes this fall and remind residents that when it’s time to change smoke alarms, they must be replaced with the same type of alarm.

Residents will also be able to follow Get Real Ajax fire safety tweets and videos on the town’s social media pages and Ajax Fire’s Twitter account and interact by using the hashtag #GetRealAjax.

Through education, awareness and teamwork, Ajax Fire and Emergency Services’ goal is to prevent fire-related fatalities, injuries and property damage across the town.
