July 21, 2015, Calgary - Traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway in southern Alberta was forced to detour yesterday when a semi carrying 10-tonnes of hay bales caught fire.
Police say a mechanical problem sparked the fire around three p-m near Brooks.
The flames spread to the bales and then to some nearby grass before they were eventually snuffed out around seven last evening.
No one was hurt, but the smoke caused visibility problems for drivers.
