Man in serious condition after car, ambulance collide

May 13, 2013, Burlington, Ont. – A 93-year-old Burlington man is in serious condition in hospital after his car was involved in a collision with an ambulance at an intersection.

Authorities say the collision happened Sunday afternoon (at the intersection of the No. 1 Side Road and Appleby Line) and the intersection was closed for about five hours.

Two paramedics in the ambulance received minor injuries and were treated at hospital.

Officials say the ambulance was not responding to a call at the time and had no lights or sirens on and there was no patient on board.

Police say the car was making a left turn (onto Appleby Line) and the ambulance was southbound.
