Manitoba, Ontario wildfires grow

On Tuesday, the Manitoba government issued a news release saying that the Caddy Lake fire has almost doubled to 51 square kilometres.
Ontario crews are leading the fight in that blaze.
The Beresford Lake fire also increased to about 560 square kilometres, most of it in Ontario, although Manitoba firefighters are assigned to that fight.
About 60 cottages and a lodge near the subdivision in Nopiming Provincial Park were evacuated earlier this week, and sprinkler systems were set up to try and protect them.
So far no major damage has been reported.
The Manitoba government said campgrounds in the area are closed, and burning permits have been cancelled.
In Whiteshell Provincial Park, several hiking trails have also been closed.
In western Manitoba, burning permits have been cancelled and travel restrictions are in place for both the Turtle Mountain and Spruce Woods provincial parks.
Last week, about 100 evacuees from Ingolf, Ont., were forced from their homes and are expected to be out for the rest of this week.
