Jan. 25, 2024, Port Coquitlam, B.C. – Blake Clarkson is the City of Port Coquitlam’s new fire chief.

He brings 18 years of fire service experience to the role, starting his career as a firefighter and gradually progressing into senior management positions within the city’s fire department. He was promoted to acting deputy fire chief of administration and support in 2021, a role that became permanent in 2023.

“I look forward to serving the community of Port Coquitlam in this new role and continuing the excellent work of the department,” said Clarkson in a city press release.“Our fire department has a long history of dedicated and professional service to the community and I look forward to building on this foundation of excellence and commitment to the community I am a part of in the years to come.”

Chief Clarkson is expected to assume his new role in March, when he will officially take over from Fire Chief Robert Kipps who is retiring from the fire service after 35 years.
