Aug. 9, 2021, Regina — In late July, Lieutenant Governor Russ Mirasty presented nine members of Regina Fire & Protective Services with the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medal.

The recipients were: Deputy Chief Gord Hewitt, Assistant Chief Don Kistner, senior captain Curtis Nagel, retired captain Darren Boyer, retired captain Bob Sax, captain Myles Seifert, captain Lindsay Tolley, lieutenant Leonard Milo and inspector Lyle Derkson.

“Regina Fire members educate, protect and save lives. Through their actions and service, they exemplify the highest level of professionalism while keeping our community safe,” said Regina Fire Chief Layne Jackson in a press statement. “These members serve as mentors and leaders for all firefighters and we are fortunate to have them serving our community.”

Recipients of the award must have completed a minimum of 20 years of service with one or more recognized Canadian fire services. Exemplary service is characterized by good conduct, diligence and efficiency that serves as a model for others.
