One dead after fire at Manitoba farm

Altona, Man. - One person is dead after a fire that scorched an area the size of two football fields on a southern Manitoba farm.

RCMP say firefighters were called Monday afternoon to a property in the Rural Municipality of Rhineland, where the flames had spread throughout some dwellings and beyond.

The victim – a male – was discovered when crews arrived at the scene.

Police have not released his name.

The fire commissioner's office is investigating, but Mounties say the fire does not appear to have been suspicious.
