RCMP say couple safe after early morning fire

Jan. 30, 2013, Harbour Grace, N.L. – RCMP say a man and a woman had to flee their home in Harbour Grace, N.L. after a fire broke out.

Police say the pair were alerted to the flames around 3 a.m. today by a smoke detector.

The fire caused extensive damage to the house.

Police say the man had to be treated in hospital in Carbonear for smoke inhalation.

There's no word on what caused the fire.
