Seven Ontario firefighters commended for bravery

Seven Ontario firefighters, from the Burlington Fire Department and the Wasaga Beach Fire Department, received commendations for bravey Thursday evening from Ontario Lieutenant-Governor David Onley in a private ceremony at Queen's Park. Burlington firefighters George Cassady, Bruce Cole, Brian Fedyszyn, Joel Kirschner, Jeff Willemse and Acting Capt. Chris Martin rescued a man from a river while Wasaga Beach firefighters Jason Bavelaar and Reno Levesque rescued an unconscious victim from his smoke-filled home.
