Toronto Fire Chief William Stewart (left) and Kingston Deputy Chief Neville Murphy, chair of the memorial committee for the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, salute after laying a wreath at the Ontario Fallen Firefighters memorial service in Toronto Sunday. Hundreds of firefighters attended the annual service to commemorate those who have fallen in the line of duty in the previous year, or those who have recently been proven to have died from work-related illness. There were 31 names added this year to the 500 already inscribed on the memorial that was erected in 2005 near Queen’s Park. Photo by John Riddell. |
