Teenager rescued from fire on First Nation

Sept. 3, 2015, North Battleford, Sask. - An 18-year-old Saskatchewan woman is in hospital after being pulled from a burning house on the Sweetgrass First Nation.

She was pulled from the residence by another member of the community who, with his daughter, noticed flames late Monday night through the home's windows.

The pair called 911 and then went to see if anyone was inside the home.

RCMP say they heard coughing, so the father entered the house and found the teenager, pulling her to safety.

The other residents of the house arrived a short time later and confirmed no one else was inside.

The woman pulled from the home was taken to hospital in North Battleford before she was moved to a Saskatoon hospital.

The house was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
