Australian wildfire specialists land in B.C.
July 14, 2015, Vancouver - Dozens of Australian wildfire specialists are expected to be in Chilliwack today to be briefed about their roles in the province's forest-fire fight.
Fire information officer Navi Saini says the 50 Australians will not be actively fighting fires but are instead highly trained specialists who will help with command and coordidation.
Saini says 16 will help co-ordinate fire camps and others will perform jobs such as co-ordinating helicopters and analyzing fire behaviour.
The firefighters were expected to arrive yesterday afternoon to help in the fight against the 221 blazes that were burning around B.C.
