Cassidy retires after 46 years with South Bruce Fire Rescue

March 22, 2024, South Bruce, Ont. — CAO Leanne Martin presented Fire Chief Guy Gallant’s report, in his absence, during the March 12 South Bruce council meeting. Deputy Chief Keith Cassidy has retired from South Bruce Fire Rescue after 46 years with the Teeswater and South Bruce fire departments.

As stated in the report, “Chief Cassidy started in 1977 and is estimated to have responded to over 4,000 calls for assistance during his career. During that time Chief Cassidy served in every position with the Teeswater Fire Department and later the South Bruce Fire Department, starting as a firefighter, captain, training officer, deputy chief and fire chief. Chief Cassidy was also a long-serving fire co-ordinator with Bruce County.”

Jeff Robbins has been appointed acting deputy fire chief at the Teeswater station.

Mayor Mark Goetz thanked Cassidy for his 46 years of service to the community.

“He’s set the bar very high,” said Goetz, who remarked on all the time Cassidy has spent away from his family while serving with the fire department. “We wish him well in his retirement.”
