Kirkland Lake appoints new fire chief, emergency services director

May 3, 2023, Kirkland Lake, Ont. – Kirkland Lake has appointed Earl Grigg as fire chief and director of emergency services. Grigg joins the Town of Kirkland Lake from the Town of Marathon where he was also the fire chief, which included leading the operations of fire and rescue services including suppression, operations, training, and prevention.
Grigg has more than 26 years of municipal fire services experience, as well as experience with development and delivery of fire, medical/rescue, and hazardous material programs/services in the emergency management field. He is certified in emergency management and will also be the town’s community emergency management coordinator.
Grigg will administer and coordinate all fire department activities through the supervision of officers and firefighters, and will plan, organize, and direct departmental operations on equipment, apparatus, inspections, and personnel alongside the Kirkland Lake Fire Services Team. This will also include the oversight and maintenance of fire related equipment and the Fire Services vehicle fleet.
Grigg will start his new role on May 8.
