July 9, 2013, Innisfil, Ont. – A central Ontario man managed to escape from his burning home early Monday, after rescuing his two dogs and fleeing through a second-storey window.

Police say they were called to the fire in Innisfil, near Barrie, at about 1:15 a.m., along with firefighters who arrived to find the house engulfed in flames.

After a search of the area, police found the homeowner outside the residence, suffering from minor injuries.

He told them he was able to get his two dogs safely out of the house before jumping from the second-storey window into the backyard below.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
