June 10, 2013, Kitchener, Ont. – Fire officials say a disabled Kitchener, Ont., man was rescued from his burning home by two neighbours.
Firefighters say one of the neighbours was woken up by his dog around 5 a.m. Saturday and smelled smoke.
They say that's when he saw the fire and rushed to wake another neighbour.
Officials say the pair then ran into the burning home and rescued the paraplegic man, who had been trapped and unable to call for help.
Firefighters arrived moments later and put out the blaze.
They say the man was treated for smoke inhalation in hospital and is expected to recover.
Investigators are probing the cause of the fire.
