
A new fire hall in Espanola, Ont., will officially be opened on Thursday, June 27, 2019, with a hose-cutting ceremony.
The event begins at 1 p.m. and runs till 7 p.m. to accommodate people on shiftwork. The public will be able to tour the facility and talk to staff.
The fire hall has four bays, comfortable change rooms for firefighters, a kitchen area, and a training centre which may eventually be a hub for training firefighters from across northeastern Ontario.
A new fire truck will be on display at the event. Cake and refreshments will be provided.
Espanola Mayor Jill Beer and council will be at the ceremony.
The one-storey fire hall, just under 8,000-square-feet, was built by Lignum Builders.
An open house and tours will also be held at the fire hall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
