Feb. 8, 2012, Lumby, B.C. – Investigators will need at least another day to determine if a fire that levelled a building in downtown Lumby was suspicious.
Fire inspector Dean Wakefield says crews have only had a preliminary look at what remains of the laundromat, gift shop and two suites destroyed in the Monday evening fire.
He says it hasn't even been possible to confirm where the fire was sparked – although witnesses in the North Okanagan village say the flames were first spotted at the back of the building.
No one was hurt, but the nearly 70-year-old structure is a write-off and, although the building owner is insured, the tenants in the two suites are not.
