Smoke detector removed before fatal fire

Jan. 24, 2011, Saskatoon - A functioning smoke detector in the Saskatoon apartment where a fire killed a three-year-old girl Wednesday night was removed after the alarm was last checked by the building's corporate manager, officials said Friday. The Calgary Herald reports.
