March 28, 2014, Winnipeg – A man who once headed the fire department in Prince George, British Columbia has been named the new fire chief in Winnipeg.

John Lane succeeds Reid Douglas, who was let go by the city last fall after a fire hall land-swap scandal.

Lane was the Prince George fire boss for two years before he resigned last August.

Prior to that he was with the Toronto Fire Service, where he worked in emergency medical services and firefighter training.
